Andrew Short at the Halfway Point of the Nationals- A Photo Recap

Round six of the Lucas Oil AMA National Championships is in the books which means the nationals are at the halfway point. Andrew is currently in fourth in the points after a rough start to the series and he is only 15 points out of second. Let's take a look at his season so far through the magic of photos...

Andrew was hoping to get his season off to a strong start after having problems the last couple of years early in the season. |

Early on in the first moto of the year, Shorty was out front before getting taken down by another rider and was almost last. With his work cut out for him and the good start to the season dashed, Andrew worked hard to end up in fourteenth. |

With the Hangtown track not being one of his favorites, Shorty got a good start and rebounded from his poor first moto to end up fifth and tenth overall on the day. |

Disaster struck for Honda and Andrew at round two at Freestone when he was unable to make the start of the moto with some bike problems. The hole was pretty deep for Andrew after this DNS. |

With all the problems fixed, Shorty went out in the second moto at Freestone and was on fire early on in the moto before heating up in the extreme conditions and finishing sixth. |

At Mt Morris, Shorty had a great day with two holeshots and in the first moto he came from the back to get third. |

In the second moto, Andrew led for a long time before eventually getting caught by Ryan Dungey but he stuck close behind to get a second and a second overall. |

Budds Creek- Moto 1 saw Andrew grab the holeshot and took off for the moto win. He was feeling it this moto and this win helped him make up some ground after the early season troubles. |

In the second moto, Shorty once again grabbed the holeshot and led for a brief while before falling back to sixth. By the end of the moto, Andrew got back up to fifth and his 1-5 day gave him another second overall. |

At round five in Lakewood, Short was in his native state of Colorado and grabbed his fifth straight holeshot in the series (!!) and took off on the track he loves. Disaster struck when he lost his front end and went down. After dusting himself off, the best he could do was an eighth. |

Second moto at Lakewood, Andrew regained his rightful place up front and had a good battle with Ben Townley where he eventually ended up in third. |

Round six was at RedBud and Shorty was involved in an epic battle for the lead for part of the race and ended up third in the first moto. |

Second moto out Andrew led for a few laps and rode strong the whole way for a fifth in the moto and his 3-5 score was good enough for fourth overall at the awesome RedBud facility. |
