Shorty Finishes Fifth in San Francisco

When the racers traveled north to San Francisco for round four of the AMA Supercross series, they were expecting a rainy and rutty track. What they got was a clear and chilly night of racing. And the race certainly started off the right way for team Honda Red Bull Racing’s Andrew Short when he went out there and won his first heat of the year.

In the heat, Shorty sprinted away in the beginning and held off current points leader Ryan Dungey the rest of the way and claimed the number one spot on the gate for the twenty man main event. Once that gate dropped, it wasn’t the perfect start for the #29 Honda rider but he made the best of it and was moving towards the front when disaster struck.

A simple stall of the motorcycle and that was it for Shorty. He was back in seventh with his work cut out for him. As usual, Andrew charged hard the whole race and managed to get up into fifth by the time the checkers flew. It certainly was a great ride but frustrating for Andrew as his heat race win and early charge indicated that he had the speed to win but it just didn’t happen.

Andrew would like to congratulate his teammate Davi Millsaps on his podium finish in San Francisco, next stop- San Diego!
