Andrew Short is one of the top riders in the sport of supercross/motocross today. The Colorado native now residing in Texas has been a member of the Honda Red Bull Racing team the past few seasons. Andrew has a remarkable string of finishes going where he has finished five consecutive times in the top three in both the Monster Energy Supercross and Lucas Oil Motocross series.

The man known as ‘Shorty’ to friends and fans alike is one of the sports good guys as he always finds the time to deal with all of his supporters. This down-home demeanor is probably because Short never really thought that he’d ever get to where he is now. Andrew had to fight and claw his way to the top and truly appreciates everything that he’s earned so far.

“I think in racing you’re only as good as your last race. I don’t necessarily want to think that I have ‘made it’ or ‘I’ve arrived,’ I guess. I think that’s the drive and competitiveness of any athlete. I try to keep that mentality, always striving to get better and better because I still haven’t reached the top and that’s my goal. I think one day when I get done racing I will look back and reflect on what I have accomplished, but until then, I’m just trying to keep my head down and achieve what I can achieve.”

Short has won races in the 250MX, 250SX, 450MX but has yet to capture that elusive 450SX win but he’s certainly come close. A couple of seconds has left the 27-year old with only one spot to go and some time to do it. Last season Short was a factor in practically every race with his fitness and speed coming into play late in the race.

“I know that those guys get away from me a bit early in the race but I’m working on that and combine my new speed with my late race fitness and I’m looking to finally take that top spot in 2010” says Andrew.

Andrews mechanic is Jason Haines, an experienced wrench with many years under his belt and Shorty’s teammate is Davi Millsaps. They will both be on the 2010 CRF450.

“We had a great team in 2009. We had great people, great bikes and a great program. That’s something that you just can’t buy—all the experience we gained last year. I think it shows that we’re going to be a really good team because of that, and because of the great partnership between Honda and Red Bull” says the man that the fans have embraced as one of them, look for Andrew at a track near you!
